$Crevasses of Marabreen | Our final hike of the 2026 trip to Norway led us from the head of Kjøsnesfjord up through the steep Lundeskaret, gaining around 900 metres of elevation into the glacial world of the southwestern reaches of Jostedalsbreen. Turquoise lakes filled with glacial water, sheer rock walls and paths polished smooth by the glaciers of the last Ice Age accompanied us towards the edge of Jostedalsbreen National Park. At around 1,200 metres, we finally stood above Marabreen, where deeply fractured ice, crevasses and visible layers revealed the complex structure of the glacier. Inspired by the work of an unknown photographer, I had long wanted to point a medium-format camera with a long telephoto lens at the intricate surface of a heavily crevassed glacier. On Marabreen, that idea finally became reality. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.com$
